When we first met with Melanie and Casimir, we got to know them over coffee in the fall. It didn't take long for us to get excited about photographing their wedding coming up in the spring. The best part about being wedding photographers is meeting couples that are so truly in love and sharing such an important day with them. Melanie and Casi met at a friend's party initially, but it wasn't until a year had passed and a bit of serendipity brought them back together again.
The entire wedding day was to take place at the elegant and classic Sheraton Commander Hotel, so we arrived early and headed up to the bride and grooms separate rooms to photograph the wedding party as they prepared for the ceremony.
Melanie's wedding dress had such lovely details with intricately beading that played off the sparkling jeweled-toe shoes.
Melanie flashes a beautiful smile as she checks out her bridal makeup and thinks about her wedding day and life that is to come.
As Melanie is helped into her wedding dress by her mother she gets the final touches on her hair.
Keilani, the flower girl is very excited to show off her dress and pose with the bride.
Casimir, the groom, stops to check himself out in the mirror and adjust his bowtie.
All weddings have their setbacks, and this one was no different although it was minor. The groom's tux had pretty badly visible black threads within the lining of the tux.
Some quick surgery with a pair of scissors and the tux was looking wedding worthy.
Casi and his Best man helped all the groomsmen to put on their boutonnieres.
The ring-bearer looks primed for a modeling career.
As with most weddings the groomsmen were ready with time to spare. So after they got dressed and we got some fun group shots, they got to relax at the bar for a few minutes before the wedding.
This is the smile of a bride that realizes how good she looks on her wedding day. Melanie, you truly are beautiful bride.
Melanie and Casi chose to have a 'First Look' as many bride and grooms are doing now. This was such a touching moment to be able photograph this emotional moment. Moments like this is why we love to photograph weddings, moments that show a couples true love for each other.
Before the wedding ceremony both the groups, bride with bridesmaids and groom with groomsmen, prayed together, another touching moment.
After sealing their marriage with their first kiss as husband and wife, Melanie and Casi show their excitement as they walk down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time.
The wedding reception took place in the beautiful George Washington room of the Sheraton Commander Hotel. The room has a great colonial theme, even with a large George Washington statue on display, but it is the gorgeous chandeliers that make the room.
Melanie and Casi's first dance as a Bride and Groom shows how much fun they are as a couple.
During the bouquet toss, the single women really leaped to catch the bouquet.
When the groom tossed the garter all the single men were happy to watch it up in the air, rather than dive to catch it.
As the night wore on, we gathered Casi, all the groomsmen, and all the other guy friends to the hotel lobby to take a great, big group picture.
Melanie and Casi drew everyone's attention while they enjoyed the last dance of their wedding night.
The entire wedding party enjoyed a final speech delivered by the Bride and Groom and as they closed out the night with a kiss.
Congratulations to Melanie and Casi, we wish you all the love and happiness in your married life. Thank you again for sharing your wedding day with us and especially allowing us to photograph your first look which was so moving. Weddings like yours, and couples like you are the reason we love to photograph weddings. Sharing in such a love filled day is always fun.
